We have finished our Friday class painting. Everyone's sheep turned out beautifully. I will post some of my students' sheep later with their permission. It was a lot of fun, and not so hard to do after the painting of the cows - they are now keen to do a painting of a donkey! Can't wait to start that one.

7th Lesson - How To Oil Paint The Illusion Of Texture
Still working our way down I try and mix the same green as a base then add the light greens, darks and oranges on top. You can see in the photo that there is more colour and detail. Where the grass meets the water, it is slightly darker. Create ridges with your dark mix and brush upwards from them with your highlights. Be careful not to paint in neat rows - we need random, haphazard dips and bumps! As we proceed further down, we will use thicker paint for texture, but for now we are still fairly soft and smooth.
