I've brushed in the rest of the white canvas with a turpsy wash of green to give me an idea of the colour I want. Now I'll proceed to go over it with the purple mix that I have been using so far to blend it in with the rest of the painting. In this way the green will still show through without having a radical colour change. I can then add a deeper green as I head toward the bottom right-hand corner of the water.
