Seashore Sunrise

Well, here is our latest project for my Friday class.

Our biggest challenge with this painting is to be able to feather off the different contrasting colours so as not to make a muddy mess.  I started off with a very light Cadmium Yellow Deep in the middle of the sky and gradually oranged it up and darkened it with a Cadmium Red Light.  I kept darkening with the red and a dot of the yellow as I went out to the sides.  If you keep the oranges red, and the purples red, it will help to blend with the oranges avoiding a green or brown colour.  You are then able to come back from the edges towards the centre with a red-purple, very lightly blending in the colours with a very soft brush.
