Before we seriously start to paint in the reflections in the water, we covered the area in a turpsy wash, picking out the darks and lights. With the darks I have switched to Ultramarine and Cadmium Yellow Deep to give it a nice deep green. The lighter colours are used with the Lemon Yellow. Make sure you don't leave any hard edges as they will be hard to cover as they are dark colours. Also, try not to get any paint on the flamingos (as I have done!) because they will also be hard to cover with the light pink we will be using.
