Lesson No.16 - How To Keep Your Colours Clean
We finished the body of the flamingo at the back today. Brush in the highlights first - a light Geranium Pink that's nearly white. Use a darker mix of pink to suggest feathers. Feather the top edge of the flamingo off with a light blue/purple mix so it is nice and soft. Mix a darker red/purple for the underside, adding a touch of yellow to grey it off. You could add some soft yellow/greens to the underside of the feathers for some reflective light from the water. I finished it off by going over all the highlights again with a clean brush, and clean mix of light pink as the colours can become a bit muddy when you are feathering off. We want our flamingos nice and pink still.
